Tony Armor, President/CEO
Tony Armor is the founder and owner of Day One Solar. Tony has been living and working in the Santa Cruz community for decades.
Tony has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry, with more than 24 of those years as president of Armor Construction & Design – a general contracting company serving the Silicon Valley and Monterey Bay Areas. This dedication to his profession has earned him a reputation as a trusted leader in sustainable building practices and alternative energy systems. His experience in the construction of energy efficient homes gives Day One Solar the edge over other solar companies in the design and installation of residential and commercial Energy Systems. Tony enjoys hiking, mountain biking and serving his community. He resides in Santa Cruz, California with his wife and two sons.
Ben Valentine, System Design Engineer
Ben has been working in the solar industry since 2008 as a system designer, project manager, installer and educator. In that time, he has worked on systems as small as a 160-Watt solar system on a sailboat and as large as a 1.8-Megawatt solar farm, with the majority of his experience in residential and commercial solar photovoltaic systems. He has also designed and installed small-scale wind energy, solar thermal, and battery backup systems. Ben has practiced in Washington state, North Carolina, and California, has a General Engineering degree with a concentration in Renewable Energy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is a NABCEP Certified PV Installation Professional. When not working with renewable energy, Ben has been a field instructor with the outdoor education organization Outward Bound, helping youth and adults discover their potential in the wilderness of North Carolina, Florida and Mexico. He currently teaches the Photovoltaic Design and Installation course at Cabrillo College. Ben’s pastimes include mountain biking, camping and tinkering.
