Trinity Presbyterian Church in Santa Cruz Goes Green

Santa Cruz, CA: Trinity Presbyterian Church has become one of the first churches in Santa Cruz County to “Go Green” as it has recently commissioned a Solar Electric Generation System for the Church and Day Care facility. The 10 kilowatt system, designed and installed by Day One Solar Inc. of Santa Cruz, demonstrates the congregation’s commitment to renewable energy. By utilizing clean energy from the sun, the church will benefit both financially and environmentally: solar energy will virtually eliminate monthly electric bills, while significantly reducing the facility’s carbon footprint.

“Our congregation believes that we must be stewards of the planet, and a solar energy generation system is the cleanest form of renewable energy available to us,” commented Trinity’s Pastor, Evie Macway. “We are very happy to be working with Day One Solar to achieve our carbon footprint reduction goals.”

“We are thrilled to be helping Trinity Presbyterian Church join the ranks of environmentally conscious community leaders.” said Day One Solar CEO Jim Weisenstein,.

“This action speaks volumes about the church’s belief in the importance of renewable energy to our community and our planet.” added Day One Solar President Tony Armor.

In addition to the environmental and economic benefits solar energy will provide, this new system is also consistent with Trinity Church’s mission; celebrating its 75th year of ministry, Trinity is focused on civic participation and social justice – a progressive mission that involves small neighborly acts. Utilizing solar energy to power the church buildings is one such small act. And as one of the first congregations in the county to embrace a solar electric power generation system, Trinity hopes to set the stage for churches throughout the Santa Cruz region to join their commitment to clean energy.
