At Day One Solar, we believe the time for Solar Energy is Now. Our Mission is to deliver highly efficient Solar Energy Systems to all who are ready to join us in changing the way we power our homes and businesses; by harnessing clean and plentiful energy from the Sun.

VP, Project Management

Matt Thompson

Matt Thompson brings over 20 years of experience in the solar energy field, and manages Day One's residential and commercial projects. Matt lives in Santa Cruz with his wife and son, and enjoys surfing and mountain biking whenever possible.

Lead Electrician

Ray Evert

Ray has also worked in the solar industry for over 20 years. With a mastery of his craft and his extensive knowledge of all things electrical, Ray embodies Day One Solar’s trademark quality workmanship and commitment to service. Ray loves spending time with family and fishing out on the wharf during the summer – all in the company of his dog, Shaman.

President/CEO

Tony Armor

Tony Armor founded Day One Solar in Santa Cruz in 2013, beginning with a small office downtown and two employees. Tony’s extensive background as a General Building Contractor has always been valuable asset at Day One, providing experienced leadership for our operations management team. Tony lives on the west side of Santa Cruz with his wife Kate, where he enjoys organic gardening and beekeeping.

Brand & Business Development

Conor Armor

Conor joined Day One's team in 2022 to oversee client outreach, branding, and marketing. He was raised on the west side of Santa Cruz, and always enjoys connecting with members of the community.

Operations Manager

Megan Barrett

Megan Barrett joined Day One Solar in 2019 as an administrative assistant. Megan oversees the general office management. She facilitates customer contacts and interfaces with PG&E. When she isn’t working she enjoys running, playing the banjo and spending time with her partner, Evan and their dog Yarrow.

Finance/HR

Rebekah Crill

Rebekah Crill joined Day One in 2017 as a bookkeeper, and has since grown into the dual role of Finance manager and Human Resources manager. Rebekah does the important work of keeping Day One Solar running efficiently while making sure our valued employees are receiving their paychecks and benefits on schedule.

Sustainability

Day One Solar is a certified Monterey Bay Green Business and a member of the California Green Business Network. We practice sustainability in our office and in the field.

Scholarship

Jon M. Rumble Memorial Scholarship

Day One Solar CEO Tony Armor started the Jon M. Rumble Memorial Scholarship in 2016 in memory of his late cousin, U.S. Marine LCPL Jon Rumble, who was killed in action while on patrol in Quang Nam on December 26th, 1968. Jon was a bright and talented young man who enlisted in the Marine Corps to join his older brother in service of his country.

This scholarship exists to provide financial support to Veteran students at Cabrillo College who choose to enroll in CEM (Construction Energy Management) courses, in the hope that some may pursue a career in the renewable energy field.
