Matt Thompson brings over 20 years of experience in the solar energy field, and manages Day One's residential and commercial projects. Matt lives in Santa Cruz with his wife and son, and enjoys surfing and mountain biking whenever possible.

Tony Armor
Tony Armor founded Day One Solar in Santa Cruz in 2013, beginning with a small office downtown and two employees. Tony’s extensive background as a General Building Contractor has always been valuable asset at Day One, providing experienced leadership for our operations management team. Tony lives on the west side of Santa Cruz with his wife Kate, where he enjoys organic gardening and beekeeping.

Megan Barrett joined Day One Solar in 2019 as an administrative assistant. Megan oversees the general office management. She facilitates customer contacts and interfaces with PG&E. When she isn’t working she enjoys running, playing the banjo and spending time with her partner Evan.

Additionally, installing solar shows your businesses commitment to sustainability, an increasing factor for potential customers and employees.
Yes, installing solar at your business will qualify you for the NEM/NBT program. The PG&E NEM/NBT program will compensate you when your system produces and exports excess solar energy to the grid. For each kilowatt-hour (kWh) that you export to the grid, you get a credit on your bill for the value of that kWh. Completing and submitting the NEM/NBT application is included in our scope of work.
The size of your solar system will depend on how much electricity your business uses along with the amount of space available for the solar panel array(s). To determine the ideal system size we thoroughly evaluate your business usage habits such as your current electrical usage, future planned upgrades, or seasonal changes in workload.
We have experience designing and installing many different types of structures such as ground mounts, pole mounts, and carports. However, our designs are not limited to these structures. We first assess the property where the business is located and then we propose a design that we think would be the best fit for the needs of your individual business.
