Matt Thompson brings over 20 years of experience in the solar energy field, and manages Day One's residential and commercial projects. Matt lives in Santa Cruz with his wife and son, and enjoys surfing and mountain biking whenever possible.
Lead Solar Installer
Ryan Mobley
Ryan Mobley joined Day One Solar in 2021. Ryan was bitten by the solar bug after working with us on a large commercial solar project. Since then he has continued to grow and develop into his role as lead installer, working to install both solar and storage systems. When he’s not hanging out on the roof installing solar or by the side of the house commissioning a battery you can find him playing his guitar, flying drones and cutting hair. (If you ask him nicely, he might even cut yours!)

Javier Sanchez
Javier Sanchez is the right hand man for everyone on our crew. Javi joined Day One Solar in 2023. Javi works primarily with Ryan installing solar and storage systems. A man of many hats, he sometimes joins Matt and Ray when they are servicing a system or performing a main panel upgrade. He is continuously developing and expanding his skills as a solar installer. When he can find the time he enjoys snowboarding, gaming and spending time with loved ones.

How can I tell if my solar system is working properly?
That’s a great question and a difficult one to answer without more information! Because every solar system is different we suggest that you contact us directly so that we can advise you on how to best assess your solar system’s production.
What do I do if my inverter has an error showing?
This can happen for a variety of reasons. We suggest that you contact us directly so that we can best diagnose the error.
Do you clean solar panels?
We do not clean solar panels. We highly suggest reaching out to Santa Cruz local Chris Howe of Good Clean Sun, he’s our go to guy for solar panel cleaning!
Will you service systems that you did not install?
Yes! We will work on a system that we did not originally install.
Will you service off-grid solar systems?
We service off-grid systems on a case by case basis. Contact us directly so that we can further assess if we are the right fit to service your system.
