What a battery changes

Backup power that fits where you are today.

You already have solar

When the grid goes down, grid-tied solar shuts off too, even on a sunny day. It’s a utility safety requirement. Adding a battery lets your panels keep working in an outage.

  • Your panels recharge the battery each day, so backup can stretch across a multi-day outage
  • Use your own solar in the evening instead of buying peak-rate power
  • Day One customers: we already know your system and your home

You don’t have solar yet

A battery can stand on its own. It charges from the grid and takes over the moment the power goes out, so you’re covered this winter without a full solar project first.

  • Keep essentials on: lights, fridge, internet, medical devices, well pump
  • Add solar later and the battery becomes part of one system
  • Or plan both together now. We’ll show you each option side by side

Common questions

How long will a battery keep my home running?

It depends on battery size and what you back up. Essentials-only setups last much longer than whole-home backup, and with solar the battery recharges every day. We’ll size it to the outage you want to ride out.

What does it cost?

Most Day One battery systems run $18,000–$22,000, depending on battery size and which circuits you back up. That price includes everything: engineering, permit fees, labor and materials. Thanks to the latest meter collar technology, nearly every home can skip a costly main panel upgrade. Financing is available through Clean Energy Credit Union. If you qualify for a rebate, we’ll help you with the application. Your free assessment includes a written quote.

Can I get installed before the storms?

The wettest months are forecast for January through March. Permits and utility approval take time, so booking this fall gives you the best chance of being ready.

My solar was installed by another company. Can you still help?

Yes. We’ll check your existing equipment and recommend a battery that works with it.
